Since we’ve added a bunch of new stuff to the server, I thought I should put up an FAQ page. Please ask any questions about how the server plugins work or what command you should use to do something in the comments below and I’ll keep updating this post with the answers to your questions!

Adding Bukkit Plugins to the Minecraft Server

We’re in the process of adding bukkit plugins to the Minecraft server to make the server more fun and more structured! Planned features are as follows:

• Multiworld
• Towns
• Clans (PvP)
• Dynamic Map (already up here)

Multiplay places Ardent Forge 13th (updated)

The results of the Multiplay Xmas Competition are in. Multiplay has placed us 13th, just after Santa’s Village. It’s obvious from their description and screenshots that they did not explore the plot and certainly didn’t see our underground portions.

Here are some features that the judges didn’t show:

UPDATE:
One of the judges replied to my comment in their post regarding the lower half of the top 20 builds and explained that the underground portions of our build is what earned us a top 20 spot but he didn’t take any screenshots of it.

In hindsight I can see why we didn’t get into the top 20 (though I still feel annoyed about the whole Santa’s Workshop thing). In the end our build was far too traditional when we should have been aiming for something more unique and original. I feel a bit foolish getting so upset over receiving 13th place, but we had a lot invested in this competition.

Minecraft Modders Needed!

We have some ambitious plans for Minecraft servers, as some of you know. Unfortunately we don’t have anyone with us here who is experienced in Minecraft modding.

We’re looking for experienced and capable modders to help us build some of the best and most unique servers for you guys! If you or someone you know is or has connections to an experienced modder, please send them our way! There is lots to do and we’re even willing to negotiate payment for modding services!

New Streamers!

We’ve added some new streamers to the Ardent Forge stream team! Please welcome SundayBrawl, Spiderbrains, and Pedobro! Please be away that Pedobro is a bro, but not a pedo.

If you’d like to be a streamer with us please feel free to contact me personally any way you like. We plan to have a more formal application process in the near(ish) future.

On another note, the Minecraft Xmas Creative Competition has ended and we await the judges’ decisions. We’ll post some screenshots of our completed builds soon.

Matt Enroe of Multiplay has just informed me that he has convinced the higher-ups to extend the build portion of the Multiplay Minecraft Xmas Competition by a week to make up for all the time we lost. He explained further that he is the only person assigned to support this competition and assures me that next time they will have more. This explains how long it takes to get a reply, but it doesn’t excuse the rollback he inflicted on us.

In the end, however, I can’t really be too mad about it. We have another week which gives us ample time to build all the amazing things we were planning initially.

Multiplay can’t into server administration

We’ve had a massive setback in our build for Multiplay’s Minecraft competition. Several days ago griefing by one of the other teams began on our server. I submitted a ticket about it to Multiplay hoping they would help us fix the damage done by griefers that we could not repair ourselves. We continues to work on our plot since we couldn’t afford to wait for them to respond to our ticket.

Several days pass and I get an email that a support member has replied to my ticket. Here is the reply:

I’ve restored a backup on server 45, let me know if there’s anything else you need help with.

This horrified me and I immediately when to check the server. We have lost approximately 4-5 days of progress now, since we will have to rebuild everything we did after i submitted my ticket several days ago.

I’m hoping against hope that they can return the server to the way it was before they restored the backup. If they can’t, we have about 3 days left to build anything else on the server after we’ve rebuilt the areas that were lost.
